I wrote this on 10/26/2006:

A world of different minds and philosophies is not a peaceful world. But it is one of deeper understanding. Maybe corruption is easier to find than charity. Maybe it’s easier to find a person lying, cheating, or stealing than it is to find one truthful, hard-working, and giving. The connections we have with others are implicitly encouraged by the idea that together, we can feel, appreciate, and accomplish more. Everyone believes in their own cause, but must be aware of and try to understand the perspectives of others. There are so many different ways of getting to the same point. We have different arguments and debates over the same principles and truths and different ways to perceive and misinterpret the same information. But ultimately, no culture, religion, or even self-respecting community aspires to all of the deceit and violence that are so commonplace in our world.
