As my brother artfully put it when I talked to him last night, "Shit is getting real!" Yes it is. The time where I will fall out of the comfortable, leisure-soaked, relatively burden-free college dream-world and into the insurance-paying daily grind is fast-approaching. Soon, I will be an alum of the University of Iowa.
So off to Chicago. It has been the plan all along. I'll be living with my best friend whose friendship I earned in second grade by fitting an entire peanut butter Twix bar in my mouth once during lunch. I'll be practically within walking distance of my brother and cousin, and I've already committed to weekly Sunday-night-dinners with my parents.
Admittedly, I've somehow spent more time worrying about my fantasy baseball team then looking for a job. Looking forward to this summer, I've searched out concerts I want to see (Lollapalooza), baseball games I'm going to (Sox vs. Cubs on May 19th), and trips I'm set on (Colorado, camping, etc.). I've assured myself the sense of urgency to join the real-world will come over me after graduation, when I live at home for a few weeks before I move to Chicago.
I'm astonishingly eager to face everything that's coming my way.
