Pickpocket

|
There are so many activities in life that pickpocket my time. The average person watches four hours of television a day. After you factor in how much time you spend working (about 8 hours a day) and sleeping (another 8 hours, hopefully), that's 50% of the rest of the day that's dedicated to watching TV, for the average person.

Needless to say, I do not want to dedicate half of my free time to TV-watching. But sometimes I do it. This is why I'm constantly reevaluating what I do with my time and setting goals or making lists to make sure I'm doing other things. For now, I'm trying to be conscious of going to the gym, reading, and web designing. I'm trying to go to the gym everyday, read for at least an hour a day, and get started on designing creative projects that I'm interested in.

Somehow, all of these activities all revolve around me and my well-being. But they also inspire me to do more than just focus on myself. Going to the gym gives me more energy for the day, it motivates me to do more things and be willing to do more than sit around. Reading helps me gain perspective on what's going around me. It helps me be more aware of what's going on in the world, and what I should be doing to help better it. And web designing is a way for me to reach people in a creative way. I can emphasis an area I'm interested in (music, sports, etc.) and inform and entertain others through my take on things. It's an interactive outlet to anything you want.

At this point, there's this feverish willingness to do more and to see more. I am completely aware that I don't know very much, and haven't seen very much. So I'm going to learn.

Very real goals:

- Go to the gym five to six times a week. I still have the goal of running ten miles at once. I'm getting close.

- Read these books:
The Assault on Reason by Al Gore
A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah
The Joyful Christian by C.S. Lewis

- Create three new websites and a web portfolio. Skimming through job-listings, I've figured out that I'm qualified for jobs that start out at 40K-50K a year, plus benefits. I want benefits. All I need to do is make sure I have samples to send to these companies.
